In case of “Plastic Sorting”, combination of reflection light and transparent light (back light) set up is beneficial to detect contamination. (Example: Blue plastic contaminants in Blue tile). Reflection lighting is hard to detect “Blue plastic” as incident light by reflection. In Blue plastic and Blue tile are the same signal output level. BVC6100(or BVC6200) is able to capture both reflection and transparent light. signal at one time, reflection lights are detected by R, G, B channels of sensor and transparent light is detected by IR (or SWIR) sensor, especially for transparent
light coming through Blue plastic is much higher intensity than the light coming through Blue tile by using IR back light, it is more visible for the difference of transparent light by using SWIR back light as there is almost “no” transparent light coming out from Blue tile though the other transparent light coming through Blue plastic is quite strong signal, it is good solution to check both signals difference
for sorting.
